Barcelona

"Mes que un club!"

Welcome to the first in our series of City facts!

As regular visitors to many European cities we thought we would share some of our favourite places.  So here's our first, and what better place to start than Barcelona!

The capital of Spain's Catalonia region. Barcelona is a city known for it's music, beaches, beautiful people, and football.

Where are the best hotels for events?

We have worked in many hotels within Barcelona, and have lots of experience of the varyied meeting spaces available. So let us share a couple of our favourites with you!

Melia Sky Hotel

We love the high ceilings and natural light offered in the Sky meeting rooms. The outdoor terrace is also the perfect place for an alfresco group session.

Hilton Diagonal Mar

Great location, and lots of versatile meeting space. It is always a pleasure to work here! Hilton Website

What to do in your downtime?

For a real taste of Barcelona try visiting the following:

Favourite Restaurant: Tapas Bar La Canette - just off La Rambla. You will have to queue for a seat at the bar, but it is worth it for the great atmosphere of this very traditional tapas bar. Be careful though, as you can run up quite a bill as you get a taste for the fantastic fresh seafood, which is prepared right in front of you

Favourite Museum: Museu Picasso - First opened in 1963, this museum houses 4,251 works, revealing the genius behind the young artist. Queues here can be long - visiting at lunch, shortly before the last entry, or booking your tickets online will allow you to skip the worst queues.

Favourite Tourist Attraction: There are so many, but no trip to Barcelona would be complete without seeing some of the amazing Gaudi buildings in the city. The Sagrada Familia is the most famous, but it is just as spectacular from the outside if you can't face the queues!

Favourite Tour: Casa Mila/ La Pedrera. This stunning corner building, originally apartments for the wealthy, now offers a fantastic tour, and in the evenings the light show is simply amazing. Again, another great place to take delegates to give them a taste of Barcelona.

Favourite Dessert: Hhm... No one can always agree on this one! Though we think that the winner has to be the traditional and family run Tio Che, on the lovely Rambla Poblenou, for Dulce de Leche ice-cream!
